OK - I’m a nut about cigars. I’ve been known to just look at a particularly well made one - roll it over and over in my fingers - until one of my fellow herfers finally says ‘are you going to smoke that thing or take it out on a date!’ But there is method to my madness. T he Cuban cigar is a wonderful thing, requiring upwards of 100 steps to complete the coveted masterpiece.From the planting of seeds to nailing the box shut, the intricate process follows a tradition that has changed very little over hundreds of years. When produced properly and aged sufficiently, an authentic Habanos is truly the finest smoking experience one can ever hope for. Shortcutting this process would deny the full pleasure and value that so many smokers have come to expect from abox of genuine Cuban cigars. It is unfortunate that a guide like this is necessary, but to protect the good reputation of Cuban tobacco, we must attempt to make it difficult for those who seek to fool us with inferior products.

Imitation
is an indication of quality, or even excellence. We are not surprised that Havanas have been frequently imitated. In those last ten years, falsification has improved greatly, and sometimes, it approaches perfections.
Some irregular aspects noticed in the genuine boxes are not even noticed in some fake boxes.

First of all, let us mention that there is many levels and kinds of fakes.
