Cigars are classified by their length and ring gauge (diameter). The combination of the length and diameter of the stogie puts it into one of several categories. When you rate smokes you should keep track of both. The length is measured from head to foot. The ring gauge is measured in 64ths of an inch. Here’s a handy ring gauge guide:
